Couples celebrate Valentine's Day with "I Do's" in Fountain Hills

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - If you're married and looking for something more romantic this Valentine's Day, Fountain Hills may have what you're looking for.

More than 700 married couples are expected to renew their vows at a ceremony in Fountain Park on Friday.

Greg and Bonita Jenkins are one of those couples. Greg said he surprised his wife of 5 years with the idea because of what she asks him nearly everyday.

"You can ask him. I ask him all the time. Will you marry me? Will you marry me again? He says yeah hahaha," said Bonita Jenkins.

Greg and Bonita originally met in Chicago in 2005. They met at a business meeting, but it wasn't really love at first sight.

Greg had another date at the party and Greg said Bonita put him in the dreaded friend zone.

"It ended up not working out with the other young lady and like Chris Rock says, once you're in the friend zone it's very, very hard to get out," said Greg Jenkins.

Jenkins said it took around a year but he eventually convinced his now wife.

Greg and Bonita got married in 2008 and have 2 daughters.

Love in the Hills is free to attend. On-site registration starts at 4 p.m. with the renewal ceremony itself starting at 5 p.m.
