ABC 15 took action Monday, setting up a meeting between a woman who had found photos washed away during last week’s flood in New River and the owner of the photos.
“There they are,” Joyce Moore said when she spotted her now-muddy photos.
Moore’s New River home was devastated during last Tuesday’s flooding rains.
Many of her belongings, including family photos, were washed away, she said.
The photos got caught in a shrub in a wash downstream, which is where Valerie Timm spotted them.
“I know that pictures aren’t replaceable,” Timm said, after contacting ABC15 to help her locate the photos’ owner.
The story aired Sunday night; Moore called the newsroom Monday saying the photos are hers.
“We’ve got the history of my life here,” Moore said after meeting with Timm and going through the photos.
“You can’t replace those memories,” Moore said as she held the pictures, including snapshots of her daughter, a puppy, and her beloved horses.
She called Timm an “angel,” and said the return of the photos added a bright spot to an incredibly difficult week.
