Flood waters rush New River home, 2 women rescued (VIDEO)

NEW RIVER, AZ - Two people were rescued Tuesday after being trapped inside a home in New River, completely surrounded by muddy flood waters.

Air15 video showed two women leaning out of the window of a mobile home around 12:15 p.m. At one point, one of the women began waving a white bed sheet in the air hoping to be rescued.

Tuesday morning storm systems dumped inches of rain in a matter of hours, forcing washes to overflow. Emergency crews responded to many water rescues throughout the day involving people trapped in vehicles.

Air15 video showed an emergency crew member being lowered down from a helicopter onto the roof of the home and talking to the two women trapped inside.

The flood waters appeared to ease and additional emergency personnel were able to access the home on foot and walk the two to safety.
