MCSO: Suspect in custody after leading police on slow-speed pursuit in Anthem

ANTHEM, AZ - Authorities took a suspect into custody ending what was a slow speed pursuit through Anthem Monday night.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said authorities were following a suspect who was threatening to kill himself with a gun.

The chase ended shortly before midnight after the suspect, 49-year-old Douglas Hoffmann drove through a neighborhood, reversing into the center of a cul-de-sac near Daisy Mountain Drive and Anthem Way. Air15 video showed at least 10 police vehicles in pursuit of the vehicle.

Hoffmann exited his vehicle and walked a short distance away before he was tackled and taken into police custody, according to Air15 video.

The 49-year-old was booked into jail for felony flight and DUI.

The pursuit lasted about 50 minutes.
