Armed robbery suspect sought after incident with Subway employee outside of Anthem Safeway store

ANTHEM, AZ - Maricopa County Sheriff's Detectives are looking for the suspect of a Friday morning armed robbery in Anthem.

According to a news release, the armed robbery occurred outside of the Safeway in Anthem around 9 a.m.

The suspect reportedly struck a Subway employee in the head once with his fist and again with a handgun.

The Subway employee is said to have been carrying an unknown amount of money.

The suspect reportedly left the scene in a grey or light blue Honda Element with another subject in the vehicle.

The suspect is described as being a white male with wavy, brown hair, approximately 250 pounds and 5'11'' tall.

He was last seen wearing a grey O'Neil shirt, blue and white striped shorts and dark shoes and had a blue bandana covering his face.
