Yuma rescuers free kitten from fishing lure

YUMA, AZ - A kitten caught up in fishing tackle was rescued by fire and animal control personnel on Tuesday.

According to the Yuma Fire Department, crews were called to a home where they found a kitten had grabbed onto a fishing lure attached to a fishing pole left in the carport.

The kitten was hooked in both lips and both front paws. It had also gotten tangled in the fishing line so was unable to move.

Firefighters wrapped the kitten in a towel to secure it and then were helped by Animal Control officers while the barbs were snipped off the hooks and slipped out of the wounds.

The kitten appeared to be all right, other than a few punctures.

It was believed to be a stray kitten and it was left in the care of the Animal Control officers.
