Yuma police look for witnesses to deadly pedestrian crash

YUMA, AZ - Authorities say a man has died after he was struck by a vehicle in Yuma overnight.

Yuma police say 80-year-old John Lawson was crossing the road in the 400 block of W. 24th Street when he was struck around 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

The pedestrian was hit by a Toyota Corolla driven by 25-year-old Neethu Mattew who was eastbound on 24th Street, police said.

Lawson was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police say there was a white or light colored 90s Toyota Previa van right behind the silver Toyota and the driver may have been a witness to the collision.
