Suspect arrested in Yuma stabbing case, police say

YUMA, AZ - Authorities in southwestern Arizona say a man is in custody and facing a charge of attempted murder in stabbing case.

Yuma police say 28-year-old Armando Lopez also has been booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Officers responded to a convenience store about 11:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old man with stab wounds.

He was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. His name hasn't been released.

Police say the suspect fled the area, but was later located and arrested.

It's not immediately known what triggered the incident, whether the two men know each other or if Lopez has an attorney yet.
