YUMA, AZ - Firefighters are looking into what caused a fire at a Yuma Church’s Chicken restaurant Wednesday morning.
Yuma fire Public Information Officer Michael Erfert said that just before 10 a.m. a fire was reported inside the restaurant located near 4th Avenue and 24th Street.
When crews arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the building and flames visible inside, Erfert said.
Firefighters quickly put out the fire in the kitchen where the damage was contained.
Erfert said there were three employees in the business at the time and all got out safely.
They reported seeing flames coming out from under a commercial fryer, according to Erfert.
The fire appears to have started in the cooking equipment and the cause is under investigation.
