YUMA, AZ - Three men believed to be in Arizona illegally have been rescued after they tried to swim across the Colorado River to their native Mexico.
U.S. Border Patrol agents from Yuma Station's Boat Unit say they rescued the men Thursday.
Agents following footprints near the river saw five people trying to swim west toward Mexico.
The boat unit was dispatched to the area where crew members saw two people safely reach the Mexican bank of the river.
Agents say the three men appeared to be in distress and were struggling to stay afloat.
They were brought on board the boat and later arrested.
Agents searched through brush near the river for any other people and say they found 285 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $140,000.
