Jose Zarate wanted for murder of Aguila woman

AGUILA, AZ - Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man they say killed a woman at her home near Wickenburg Monday night.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says Jose Zarate, 25, allegedly shot 31-year-old Maria Saucedo while they were involved in an argument at the Aguila home.

MCSO deputy Joaquin Enriquez said Saucedo confronted Zarate about wanting to date her 13-year-old daughter.

Some time during the argument, Zarate allegedly shot Saucedo in the chest with a rifle.

A witness reportedly grabbed the rifle from Zarate, who ran from the scene.

The first deputies on the scene performed CPR on Saucedo until paramedics arrived, Enriquez said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

MCSO is looking for the public's help to locate Zarate who is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about Zarate is urged to call Det. Mike Johnson at 602-526-6533 or Sgt. George Pepe at 602-989-1988.
