A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting near Oracle and Roger Rd, according to Tucson Police Department.

After responding to a welfare check, police discovered a man had barricaded himself inside a duplex. The man started making threats about harming his family and police. He then fired several random shots and continued to do so throughout the night.

Once shots were fired, police evacuated residents. Several cars were struck by bullets.

Sgt. Kimberly Bay said the man was shot by SWAT team members and he was pronounced dead on scene.

A spokesperson for the police department said Roger Rd is shut down between Stone and Oracle. Avoid the area if possible.
