The Sanctuary Project is looking for anyone who might have information regarding a puppy that was found buried alive on the east side of Tucson on Sunday night.

He was found buried in a lot in the Pantano and Escalante area.

Someone was walking by, heard the puppy whimpering and called the police.

Tucson police responded and called the Sanctuary Project who established a plan with the Valley Animal Hospital to care for the dog.

According to the Sanctuary Project, "the prognosis was grim as his body temp was below 80 and would not even register on their thermometers. His mouth was filled with rocks and dirt. At this point he was unresponsive but we were all hoping he would respond to treatment overnight."

Early Monday morning the decision was made to humanely euthanize the puppy as he started showing neurological symptoms and had a seizure.

If anyone has information about this incident, the Sanctuary Project is urging you to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
