Oro Valley councilman accused of domestic violence

ORO VALLEY, AZ - An Oro Valley town councilman has been indicted on charges that he entered his estranged wife's house with a knife and burglarized it.

The Arizona Daily Star reported Saturday that Brendan Burns faces allegations in Pima County Superior Court of disorderly conduct and burglary charges.

According to the indictment, Burns is accused of recklessly displaying the knife toward his wife and was arrested May 20.

Joel Feinman, Burns' attorney, says his client will be vindicated.

Burns, an attorney, and his wife have divorce proceedings pending in court. The couple shares three children.

In February, she was awarded a petition for injunction against harassment. In court documents, she alleges Burns grabbed and shoved her. The order was later dismissed.

A hearing in Burns' felony case is scheduled for Aug. 11.
