Mother and three children rescued from Tucson mountain hike

TUCSON, AZ - A woman and her three children have been rescued from Tucson's Mount Lemmon after experiencing problems during a hike.

Pima County Sheriff's officials say the 36-year-old woman and her children -- ages 12, 14 and 15 -- began hiking the Green Mountain Loop at about 1 p.m. Sunday.

During the hike, they ran out of water, one of the children suffered a possible ankle injury and another had bleeding blisters.

The mother called 911 for help.

The sheriff's department helicopter responded to the scene and the three children were hoisted to safety.

The woman tried to hike out on her own, but couldn't make it and also was hoisted out by helicopter.

She refused medical treatment and was driven home by her husband along with the three children.
