Inmate Cesar Lowe caught after escaping during transport in southern Arizona

TUCSON, AZ - An inmate who escaped during a transport in southern Arizona was captured early Thursday.

Cesar Lowe, 20, escaped Wednesday evening while he was being transported from the Minimum Security Facility to Pima County Adult Detention Center.

While Lowe was getting into the vehicle, officials said he managed to escape and ran toward a nearby neighborhood. He was wearing red jail clothing and socks at the time of his escape.

Tucson police, Oro Valley police, canine units, and Pima County Sheriff's deputies worked together to locate Lowe in the area of Cuesta Avenue and Sonora Street just after midnight and took him into custody.

The Pima County Sheriff's Office said said Lowe was serving a six-month sentence for a felony conviction for theft. He was scheduled to be released February 7, 2013.

Prior to his time at the MSF, he served a two and a half-year sentence at the Arizona Department of Corrections for burglary charges.
