Hikers stung by bees rescued from Marana peak

TUCSON, AZ - Two teenagers who were stung multiple times by bees while hiking a southern Arizona mountain have been rescued by firefighters.

Northwest Fire District spokesman Adam Goldberg says two 18-year-old hikers used their cellphones to call 911 Friday night from a mountain in Marana after a bee attack.

Goldberg told the Arizona Daily Star that the teens encountered a beehive in a crevice and were stung between 20 and 30 times.

Goldberg says rescuers hiked up the mountain and were able to help them down on foot.

He says both appear to be in good condition.

Authorities did not release their names.
