Fox Fire grows to 3,400 acres, becomes more accessible to fire personnel

TUCSON, AZ - The Fox Fire, burning near Cascabel, Ariz., has grown to approximately 3,400 acres since Monday's estimate of 1,200 acres.

Since the last update at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, officials say that the fire is 10 percent contained and they are still working towards full suppression of the fire.

Dry brush and juniper are fueling the flames in the rocky terrain, but with cooler temperatures, officials say fire activity decreased overnight.

Personnel are able to reach the fire easier now that the fire has moved, and so far, factors seem to be working to their advantage.

Firefighters are working on the northwest corner of the fire to keep it form entering the Espiritu Canyon and Saguaro National Park areas.

Lightning is still believed to be the cause of the fire.
