TUCSON, AZ - The eastbound lanes of I-10, just north of Tucson, were closed while crews work to clear a serious collision.
Department of Public Safety officials say the accident happened around 7:45 p.m. Monday between Orange Grove and Ina Roads.
Officials say two vehicles were involved in the crash and that one of the cars hit a guard rail.
DPS spokesperson Bart Graves said one person was trapped inside a vehicle that slammed into the guard rail. The person in the vehicle had reconstructive surgery on their leg.
Eastbound traffic was being taken off at Orange Grove Road. Crews say there was a backup of at least 1.5 miles long.
