Family of 5 hurt in I-10 rollover in Tucson

TUCSON - Authorities say a father and his four children were seriously injured after their vehicle rolled several times on a busy Tucson interstate.

Northwest Fire District Capt. Adam Goldberg says the family's SUV was traveling eastbound on I-10 Saturday afternoon between Ruthrauff and Prince Road exits when the accident occurred.

Goldberg says a 15-year-old girl, who was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The girl's 22-year-old brother, who was driving, sustained critical injuries. An 18-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl suffered minor injuries. The 50-year-old father remains in serious condition.

Goldberg says the 18-year-old was also not wearing a seatbelt.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officers say the cause was tire failure and a separated tread.

The family was traveling from California to Mexico.
