CBP: $2.2 million of drugs seized near Whetstone, AZ after agents searched trailer full of livestock

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized more than 4 tons of marijuana after they searched a tractor-trailer full of livestock.

The tractor-trailer carrying livestock was stopped at Sonoita Station, a checkpoint near Whetstone, AZ, after agents noticed the upper ventilation holes were plugged.

Upon a further inspection, agents found a pistol and over $2.2 million worth of marijuana contained in 188 bundles.

The driver was arrested and the marijuana, firearm and vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
