Campfire and smoking restrictions announced in part of Arizona

TUCSON, AZ - Federal land managers in southeastern Arizona are announcing tougher campfire and smoking restrictions that take effect Thursday because of the threat of wildifres.

Jurisdictions implementing the new restrictions include Coronado National Forest, Saguaro National Park and various national monuments and historic sites.

Federal officials say the tougher restrictions are consistent with Arizona State Forestry Division fire restrictions already in place statewide.

Those include prohibitions against fires in developed campgrounds or improved sites, smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building and shooting guns except while engaged in a lawful hunt pursuant.
