Baby elephant born at Tucson's Reid Park Zoo

TUCSON, AZ - It's a girl!

The Reid Park Zoo in Tucson has welcomed a baby African elephant, the first calf born at the zoo.

The elephant was born at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday evening, the zoo announced Thursday in a Facebook post.

"Mom and (adorable) baby are doing well," the post said.

The calf has not been named and has not been weighed yet, but zoo officials say she and her mother appear to be doing well.

Semba, the 24-year-old mother, has given birth to two other calves previously.
