2 children missing near Sierra Vista found safe

SIERRA VISTA, AZ - The Cochise County Sheriff's Office have located two children who were thought to be missing in Sierra Vista.

Cochise County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Carol Capas said the girls went to a church in the area, and met up with family friends who invited them to spend the night.

Authorities say 14-year-old Haley Churney and her cousin 5-year-old Brittany Marshal were last seen leaving their home on North Carmichael Drive in Sierra Vista around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Their parents told authorities they were going to a wash in the neighborhood to look for tadpoles after a rain storm started.

According to authorities, the children were reported to be missing at about 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

The girls are both cousins and have lived together at the same house with other family members for several years, authorities said.
