DOUGLAS, AZ - A lockdown has been lifted at a Douglas, Ariz. elementary school after a report of shots fired near the facility.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office says on their Facebook page that a teacher at Faras Elementary School reported hearing what she believed to be four shots fired while students were at recess.
Officials say the Douglas Police Department responded along with sheriff’s deputies and the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, setting up a perimeter in the area. Department of Public Safety officers also responded to assist.
According to the Facebook post, all children are safe and have been accounted for.
At around 2:15 p.m. the Sheriff's Office said the lockdown had been lifted and students would be released on their normal schedule.
Authorities said no shooter had been located and they found no suspicious persons in the area.
