San Juan Fire burnout operations successful overnight; 5,700 acres burned

VERNON, AZ - The San Juan Fire has reached 5,700 acres as of Monday morning, though successful burnout operations were done overnight.

According to the Southwest Area Incident Management Team, crews were able to remove fuel from certain areas and keep the fire within containment lines.

The San Juan Fire has remained at five percent containment for several days while nearly 700 personnel fight the fire.

Crews are warning drivers of low-lying smoke that may settle in the area of State Highway 60.

Mandatory evacuations are still in place for Whiting Homestead, Red Cabin Ranch and Carlock Ranch.

Green Peak Hideaway and Hidden Meadows Ranch have received pre-evacuation notices, according to the SAIMT.

The San Juan Fire was reported on June 26.
