Gila River Police: Search underway for escaped inmate, Francisco Gonzales; Considered dangerous

SACATON, AZ - An escaped inmate is on the run after he freed himself from custody while in a hospital, according to the Gila River Police Department. 

Officials said Francisco Gonzales had a medical appointment on Tuesday, June 10 at the Hu Hu Kam Hospital in Sacaton when he managed to free himself from restraints. 

Gonzales fled on foot, according to officials.

Gonzales, 29, was being held on felony charges on the reservation and had pending charges out of Maricopa County. 

Officials said he is considered dangerous, and a search has been underway since he first fled the hospital. 

Gonzales is known as "Mijo" and is 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 198 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. He has a crown tattoo under his right eye. He has the word "OODHAM" tattooed on his upper left arm, "River" tattooed on his left forearm, and "Gila" tattooed on his right forearm. 

Tips about where Gonzales may be hiding can be left anonymously by calling (580) 562-7144. Gila River officials said 911 should be called if Gonzales is spotted.
