SALT RIVER PIMA-MARICOPA COMMUNITY, AZ - One person has been taken to the hospital after being shot in an officer-involved shooting in the east Valley Saturday.
Salt River police Commander Greg Anderson said the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m.
Anderson said an officer patrolling the neighborhood near Oak Street and Stapley Drive in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community saw a person believed to have a warrant for his arrest.
When the officer contacted the individual a scuffle ensued and shots were fired.
Anderson could not confirm whether the officer or suspect had been injured, but he did say it was being investigated as an officer-involved shooting.
No other details were made available Saturday.
