BARTLETT LAKE, AZ - A fire near Bartlett Lake Saturday night has been contained, an official says.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chris Hegstrom said flames from the fire south of the Riverside Campground were topping trees.
Hegstrom said “pretty heavy winds” were blowing the fire back toward the lake.
Tonto National Forest spokesman David Albo said the fire started around 5:30 p.m. and was rolling through grass and brush.
Just before 8 p.m. Albo said a line had been built and the fire was stopped at 3 acres. He said a crew will be mopping up and making patrols through the night.
Air15 video showed an area burning with what appeared to be small spot fires around it.
Albo said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
