MCSO seeks public's help in case of Jenika Feuerstein

APACHE LAKE, AZ - Officials with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office are asking the public for any information regarding the disappearance and death of Jenika Feuerstein.

The 20-year-old's remains were found April 6 in the desert near Apache Lake by a group of men who were going target shooting in the area.

“It re-opened wounds we have worked so hard to heal,” said Maralyn Nava, Jenika’s mother, in an earlier ABC15 interview.

The last time Maralyn saw her daughter was Christmas day. Jenika was supposed to come to a family event and when she didn’t show up, Maralyn knew something was wrong.

"She was gone. I knew that in the pit of my stomach. And it was just a horrible thought to think about," said Maralyn.

Feuerstein, of Mesa, was reported missing in January 2009.

According to a release, homicide detectives are investigating the cause of death, as well as working to find the woman's killer or killers.
