Landscapers pull Oro Valley boy from burning home

ORO VALLEY, AZ - Landscapers working across the street rescued a 12-year-old Oro Valley boy who apparently was trapped in a burning house.

Police Lt. Kara Riley says the landscapers on Wednesday heard the boy banging on a picture window in the home and used a shovel to break the window in order to pull him out of the house.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that the boy was taken to a hospital for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation.

Golder Ranch Fire District Capt. Josh Hurguy says the fire may have blocked the boy from reaching the home's front door. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
