Two vacant buildings in downtown Miami have suffered "extensive" damage after a fire ignited Tuesday evening.

Globe Fire Chief Greg Robinson said the fire started around 6 p.m. in what appeared to be a former apartment building.

The fire then spread to another abandoned building next door.

Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading further, and no injuries were reported.

Officials did not have any immediate information about how the fire started.
