FD: Motorcyclist loses control, hits tree near Marana

MARANA, AZ - A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash near Marana and Interstate 10 Friday evening.

Northwest Fire/Rescue District Capt. Adam Goldberg said the single-vehicle accident occurred around 6 p.m. when the rider lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a tree near Grier Road and Galleno Avenue.

Goldberg said another motorcyclist called 911 to report the incident.

The 20-year-old male victim was air-lifted to the trauma center at University of Arizona Medical Center in critical condition.

The rider was wearing a helmet when the crashed, according to Goldberg.

The Marana Police Department was investigating the accident.
