Flood forces evacuations in Black Canyon City

BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ - Residents in Black Canyon City were evacuated from their homes Tuesday after severe flooding in the area.

Vicki Cothern, spokeswoman for the Black Canyon Fire Department, said River's Edge trailer Park near Old Black Canyon Highway and Interstate 17 was evacuated, along with nearby residences.

Trudy Thompson Rice, spokeswoman with the American Red Cross, said 20 homes at River's Edge were also evacuated.

All of those evacuated were taken to Canon Elementary School located at 196300 E. School Loop Rd. near I-17 and Velda Rose Road.
