DPS: Driver injured after semi hits guardrail, gets stuck on bridge

GILA COUNTY, AZ - A semi truck driver has been airlifted to a Valley hospital after his vehicle struck a guardrail and was left hanging off of the Salt River Bridge.

DPS Officer Carrick Cook said the semi truck went through a guardrail on U.S. 60 near milepost 294 in Gila County around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Cook said the driver was extricated from the truck and airlifted from the scene. It is believed he suffered a broken arm in the crash.

The eastbound lane of U.S. 60 near the Salt River Bridge is blocked due to the crash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Traffic is alternating in the westbound lanes, said ADOT.
