GILA BEND, AZ - A mother of three in Gila Bend has been arrested after she allegedly burned her 2-year-old son on a stove top.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, a tip was called in to Child Protective Services on Thursday that Anna Elena Ochoa was aggressive and abusive with her children, especially the 2-year-old.
When CPS checked on the claim they found the child had been severely burned and called the sheriff's office to investigate.
During an interview with detectives, Ochoa, 26, reportedly admitted to being frustrated with the child because he had wet himself.
MCSO says she told authorities that while she was getting ready for work on Tuesday she learned the boy had wet himself.
She then allegedly took off the boy's clothes and held him over a hot burner on the stove. She said the boy never made direct contact with the burner.
Ochoa told detectives she didn't know how long she held the boy over the burner and did not take care of any injuries.
She dressed the boy and continued to get ready for work.
When detectives checked the boy they reportedly found he had severe burns consistent with direct contact with a stovetop burner. The burns were shaped in several half circles and covered both buttocks. They had started to scab over but still had blisters.
Authorities found other marks on the child, including bruises on his lower back and blisters on his lips and fingers.
Ochoa allegedly made comments such as, "I'm gonna hurt him because I am fed up with him," and "I don't love him."
All three children, ages one, two and four are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Ochoa was arrested on Friday and booked into jail on one count of child abuse.
The investigation continues.
