2 injured in plane crash at Fort Huachuca

FORT HUACHUCA, AZ - Two people were injured when a small plane crashed while taking off from an airport at Fort Huachuca in Southern Arizona on Saturday.

Fort Huachuca Public Affairs Officer Tanja Linton said the pilot and passenger were civilians, not military personnel.

Linton said one person was air-lifted to a hospital in Tucson, the other was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Health Center by ambulance.

Allen Kenitzer with the FAA said the aircraft, an AC500S, crashed under unknown circumstances after takeoff.

The crash occurred around 10 a.m.

Kenitzer said the aircraft sustained substantial damage.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
