NOGALES, AZ - A Mexican national was taken into custody Monday after officers found methamphetamine hidden in her car at the Arizona border, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Officers at the Dennis DeConcini crossing referred a woman entering the U.S. for additional inspection, CBP said. During the inspection, officers found 30 packages hidden in the rear panels of her Pontiac SUV containing more than 33 pounds of methamphetamine.
Ana Luisa Salazar-Ortega, 41, of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, according to CBP. Officers seized Salazar’s car and the drugs, which were valued at about $100,000.
