NOGALES, AZ - A Chandler man was arrested Monday for attempting to smuggle 2.5 pounds of heroin into the U.S.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers selected the 22-year-old at the Morley pedestrian crossing at Nogales for further questioning.
Officers found three packages of heroin wrapped around his stomach and groin.
According to a CBP news release, the drugs were worth nearly $36,000 and were seized by officers.
The suspect was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
