NOGALEZ, AZ - A suspected illegal immigrant had to be rescued off a mountain in southern Arizona Monday night.
Alexander Zamora, spokesman for the Arizona Customs and Border Protection, said a helicopter crew spotted a flicker of light on the west side of Mule Ridge at 8:45 p.m. Monday evening.
Rescuers said a man was seeking help after falling at least 100 feet off a nearby mountain top. Because of the rough terrain, crews used a UH-60 Blackhawk to remove the man from the mountain.
Crews reported that the man had possible internal bleeding, had difficult breathing and cuts to his face and back, according to a press release.
The man was stabilized and flown to a Tucson-area hospital, said Zamora.
According to the press release, the man had entered Arizona illegally.
No other details were released.
