$1.2 million worth of marijuana hidden in jalapeno pepper shipment

NOGALES, AZ - U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officers arrested a 50-year-old man Wednesday after being suspected of smuggling $1.2 million worth of marijuana in a shipment of jalapeno peppers.

According to Customs and Border Patrol, the truck driver had 2,400 pounds of marijuana in 105 bales hidden in the tractor-trailer with the jalapenos.

A narcotics-detection canine alerted officers of the drugs within the shipment.

The drugs and truck were processed for seizure and the driver was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
