PD: Man barricades self in Maricopa home

MARICOPA, AZ - Police say a barricade situation in Maricopa has ended peacefully.

Police spokesman Ricardo Alvarado said the incident began as a domestic violence situation.

The person who called police was able to get out of the home, near Saddleback Vista and Steen, and told officers the man was armed with a BB gun.

Alvarado said around 5:35 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

According to Alvarado, officers used bean bag rounds and a police K-9 to apprehend the suspect.

Police said the man sustained non-life threatening wounds from a K-9 bite.

Alvarado said the suspect is facing charges of criminal damage and other charges pending.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

Authorities were concerned for the man and the officers as the suspect said the situation will not end well, according to Alvarado.

There is no word at this time why the man barricaded himself inside the home.
