PD: Dog shot, killed in Maricopa neighborhood

MARICOPA, AZ - Officials are investigating after a dog was shot and killed in a Maricopa neighborhood.

Ricardo Alvarado, Maricopa Police Department spokesman said a four-pound dog was shot early Sunday morning in the backyard of a Maricopa home.

The dog was shot with a pellet gun, Alvarado said.

The owner of the dog, Talena Jenkins told copamonitor.com that she never heard complaints about her dogs from neighbors.

Jenkins said she believes her other dog, that she found dead in her backyard two weeks ago was also shot, copamonitor.com reports.
