Pinal County truck pursuit ends with 5 arrests

FLORENCE, AZ - Deputies in Pinal County say they arrested five men for suspicion of drug smuggling following a high speed chase.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says a deputy tried to stop a truck for speeding along Highway 84 early Sunday but the driver refused to stop.

Deputies tried to deflate the truck's tires but the pursuit continued through the desert. One of five men in the truck flew out of the bed and was taken into custody.

A front tire was eventually flattened and the truck stopped. Deputies found 158 pounds of marijuana in the truck's bed.

The driver 34-year-old Victor Estrada of Casa Grande was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for felony flight, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana. He is currently being held on a $100,000 cash only bond.

The other suspects 39-year-old Juan Baradas Garcia of Florence, 19-year-old Carlos Lugo Garcia of Mexico, 35-year-old Marcos Antonio Espinoza Lopez of Mexico, and 26-year-old Jesus Guillero Avila of Mexico were all booked for possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana.
