Inmate suspected of sexually assaulting, stabbing a prison employee identified

FLORENCE, AZ - Arizona Department of Corrections officials released the name of an inmate suspected of sexually assaulting and stabbing a staff member Thursday.

Jacob Harvey, 20, is suspected of assaulting the female staff member at Arizona State Prison Complex-Eyman in Florence, according to the Department of Corrections. Staff at the Meadows Unit of the prison restrained and secured the inmate around 9:30 a.m Thursday.

Harvey stabbed the staff member with a pen, prison officials said. 

Harvey was admitted to the Department of Corrections on March 12, 2013 after being convicted in Maricopa County Superior Court on charges of sexual assault and kidnapping, prison officials said.   

The employee was transported to a medical facility for treatment and evaluation. The injuries reportedly do not appear to be life-threatening. 

The incident is still under investigation.
