Inmate dead after apparent Florence Eyman prison complex homicide

FLORENCE - The Arizona Department of Corrections is investigating an incident that left an inmate dead after an apparent homicide in a Florence prison.

Lino Flores, a 53-year-old inmate, was found with traumatic injuries in an Eyman prison complex recreation area early Saturday afternoon.

Before paramedics arrived, prison personnel tried to save the unresponsive inmate but Flores was pronounced dead on scene.

Another inmate, 32-year-old Julio Salazar, is being questioned by investigators in connection with the incident.

Salazar is serving sentences for first-degree murder and manslaughter, according to the Arizona Department of Corrections.

Flores was serving a life sentence for first- and second-degree murder, sexual assault, possession of a deadly weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon.
