FLORENCE, AZ - An Arizona prison inmate who escaped from a work detail has been recaptured in Florence.
Arizona Department of Corrections officials say 38-year-old Samuel Penrod was taken back into custody about 9 a.m. Friday.
He was last seen with an irrigation crew at a Florence farm around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Corrections personnel launched a search for Penrod with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, Florence police and other law enforcement agencies.
Pinal County Sheriff's officials say Penrod was captured nearly 20 miles from the prison in Florence and was wearing a gray sweat suit over his orange prisoner uniform.
Authorities say Penrod had finished about a year of his five-year sentence for burglary at the time of his escape.
