A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Pinal County for trying to engage in sexual acts with, who he believed to be, a 14-year-old girl.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said Miles Valencia began talking to an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl on a social media app around 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

PCSO said Valencia quickly made his intentions clear and said he would drive to Pinal County to meet the teen and engage in sexual acts.

Within 10 minutes of their conversation, Valencia allegedly sent inappropriate pictures to the undercover officers. He then drove from Chandler to the Pinal County meeting location and was immediately arrested.

“This case is a terrifying reminder at just how quickly predators move to target your children. Valencia did not waste any time, making his intentions clear from the beginning of the conversation,” said Sheriff Mark Lamb.

Lamb says it’s a good reminder to monitor social media accounts and apps, and even gaming programs.

“[...] talk to your children, know who they are talking to and know who is commenting and liking their posts and pictures,” Lamb added.

Valencia is facing several charges including luring and aggravated luring of a minor and attempted sexual conduct with a minor.
