FLORENCE, AZ - A Florence man is accused of strangling his live-in girlfriend who is seven weeks pregnant.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old William Christopher Willson admitted to also pushing the 18-year-old victim’s head into a wall Monday night at their home.
PCSO reports the victim called 911 saying she’d been strangled and was having difficulty breathing.
She said she and Willson had become upset during a conversation related to her pregnancy and when she tried to call 911 Willson “smashed” her telephone on the ground.
The victim said Willson then put his hands around her neck and pushed her head into a wall. He continued to strangle her and the victim reported seeing bright lights and tried to scream for help but couldn’t.
She eventually lost consciousness, telling deputies she was afraid Willson would kill her and her unborn child.
When she regained consciousness, the victim drove to a family member’s home to call 911. She was taken to the hospital with swelling around her neck and defensive wounds on her hands and arms.
Authorities searched for Willson without success.
On Tuesday, a family member of Willson’s called PCSO and he was located and taken into custody.
Willson faces charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and preventing use of a telephone in an emergency.
