Eloy firefighters rescue dog, pay for vet bill

Not only did firefighters in Eloy rescue a lifeless dog from a fire, but they offered up their own money to make sure the animal's veterinary bill was paid. 

On February 11, crews with the Eloy Fire District responded to calls of a house fire. They did not find any humans inside the residence, but Eloy Fire Captain Ethington did find a dog in the laundry room of the home.

Tucker, a small black dog, was not breathing and was lifeless, fire crews said in a Facebook post. 

Crews began resuscitation efforts and gave Tucker oxygen. 

Ethington along with an assistant fire chief took the dog to a veterinarian office in Casa Grande after fire crews treated the animal. 

Firefighters pitched in their own money to cover Tucker's veterinary bill in an effort to "further assist the owner in this difficult time." 

Tucker is expected to make a full recovery, but the family has set up a GoFundMe account to cover additional costs.
